Hi, my name is Ryan Ashley. I am studying Mechanical Engineering at CU Denver and expect to graduate in the spring of 2017. I am in charge of the propulsion systems on the AEROLYNX. This correlates with what I love to do, which is working with and on motors. Outside of school, I enjoy fly fishing and playing a few rounds of golf. I am excited to see what we can do and where we go as a team!
CODY JAMES CREAGER
Hi! My name is James Creager. I am 22, born and raised on a farm in northern Colorado. I started to learn about working with tools from a very young age and couldn't get away from it! I ended up getting a job through my scoutmaster who was an engineer, and started to learn about the process of designing and building some pretty cool stuff. I knew from that point on that I needed to be an engineer, which led me to the University of Colorado Denver. I am the Controls Systems expert for the AEROLYNX and can't wait to get this bird off the ground!
My name is Laura and I am currently a senior Mechanical Engineering student at the University of Colorado, Denver. I am the AEROLYNX Team Captain and President of the Society of Women Engineers on our campus. I will graduate in May 2017 with a B.S. of Mechanical Engineering. For two consecutive years I have been a recipient of the National Science Foundation Scholarship for community STEM outreach working as an engineering mentor at Wheat Ridge High School and the Boys and Girls Club. In my spare time, I enjoy Colorado activities such as snowboarding, camping, hiking, and rock climbing
My name is Hannah TIfft, and I am in charge of materials, structure, and manufacturing of the AEROLYNX UAV. I am a CU Denver Senior studying Mechanical Engineering with an emphasis on Materials Sciences - Composites. I currently work as a Lab Assistant here on campus to aid in research on improvements in spinal fusion instrumentation, along with other smart-materials subject matter. Over the summer, I completed an internship with Boeing Research and Development, learning the skills I need to tackle the many challenges I will face as an engineer. I could not be more excited to work with this highly-skilled team and to get this project off the ground!
My name is Jimmy Montemayor and I am in charge of the aerodynamic design of this aircraft. Aeronautics and flight have become somewhat of a specialty area of interest, as I have worked on a few projects in the past concerned with flight characteristics and aircraft design. My main objective is to optimize the aircraft and wing design to allow the UAV to fly within its specified flight parameters. Working with my team has really given me a broad understanding of any design process and how to access manufacturability within the design itself.
My name is Luis Salazar. I'm an engineering student and a mariachi musician on the side!
I decided to pursue this career due to my passion towards math and physics. I also strongly believe that I can use this profession to make our world become a better place, and it is my dream to work in the renewable energy field of engineering to help attain a more sustainable future. I look forward to working with my team and hopefully reaching our goals. With us, the sky is definitely not the limit!
